Vintage 70s Japanese Navy Fountain Pen

The maker of this pen was located on Honchou Dori in Yokosuka, Japan. Some of you may recognize the name Yokosuka. This is the area in which Commodore Matthew Perry landed when he traveled from the US to Japan to establish trade between the two in the 1850's. This is also where the United States has located it's largest foreign Naval base since the end of World War II.. Japan too has its naval base located in this bay. This pen company was located just a stone throw away from theUS base. Since the name "Sailor" was already in use by a pen company, I imagine they opted for the name "Navy" to sell pens to all the American passerby.

The pen looks a lot like a Pilot Elite except for the unique nib with a symbol of anchor on it.

A lovely pen and quite a conversation piece with the unusual hull-shaped nib, that was made to look like a ships bow.

The Nib is a stunning iridium tipped fine point and inscripted on it is the name Navy Fleet. The filling system is an integral aerometic Filler and this pen is mint
