This is one of the amazing prototype fountain pen made in Canton, China in the early 1980s by a company call Jin Rong. Jin Rong Pen Company ceased business in the early 1990s because it is not producing any profits as a state own company. Even the famous Hero Fountain Pen Company is currently downsizing its labour force
The Twisting effects on the cab and barrel is hard to achieve by Jin Rong and this prototype pen is made by the company as a test market version and not for the mass market sale. This pen saw little production of about 100 pieces and mainly circulated in Canton in the 1981-1983 period and is very hard to find these days.
I manage to get only 5 pieces of these and would like to share it with my fellow pen collectors. The pen comes with box and papers and would be a wonderful must have for your chinese pen collection. If you manage to get a similiar piece like this i will offer you US$100 as i am very confident this pen is no longer in existent.
Measuring 13.5cm in length and 1cm in width, it comes with a gold plated medium nib and a rubber suction pump. |
